Summer Camps
Dear Summer Adventure families,
Governor Cuomo announced on Tuesday, June 2, that camps would be permitted to operate this summer. We’re awaiting the official state guidelines and are working to understand the implications of opening the camp under new circumstances.
While we’ve been dreaming about the magic of Summer Adventure, we need to have a hard, realistic look at whether or not it will be possible. For example, new guidelines for camper-to-counselor ratios might make the experience cost prohibitive to the school and to parents. Along with this, we’d likely need to add staff to monitor social distancing, health monitoring, tracing, cleaning every touch point of every camper. The absolute bottom line is safety. All the uncertainty and risk of going ahead with what we’d like to do versus what we need to do to protect not only those on campus but also those they are in contact with or could have been in contact with is what we are weighing as we explore the possibility of opening on campus at some point later in the summer.
At this point we still plan to launch our Virtual Summer Adventure for the weeks of July 13, July 20 and July 24. Details and registration for these camps is imminent.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know anything!
Stay safe,
Pam Camara
