Meet Our Summer Adventure Staff
Pam and Mimo Camara
Pam and Mimo Camara have been teaching Guinea’s drum, dance, song together to both children and adults for 25 years. Though the drums are in one place and you are in another, we will share rhythms, movements, stories and songs from all over the African continent with you!
Robert Burke Warren
Robert Burke Warren, aka Uncle Rock, leads a daily singalong of classics old and new, and engages campers in collective song creation! By the end of the week, campers will have original songs to share and a deeper appreciation of the history of song.
Ellen Kalish, founder of Ravensbeard Wildlife Center, will bring live birds of prey and talk about their natural history, what their specific characteristics are and the story of how they came to Ravensbeard.
We will take a nature walk and find birds, animal tracks, learn to ID poison ivy and some medicinal plants. Pond and stream studies are so much fun in the summer: we will catch aquatic insects, crustaceans and see what fish inhabit the shallow stream bottom.
Ruby Price is a Junior at Temple University in Philadelphia. She is from Woodstock and has been teaching dance at Summer Adventure for five years. This summer, through recordings, Ruby will be teaching fun and energizing hip-hop dances for your children to learn and practice!
Danielle Payette has been teaching art for 21 years, from public school art for both elementary and high school, running her own art-focused preschool, teaching at Columbia Greene Community College, and these past four years as the preschool through 12th Grade art teacher at WDS. No matter the age, she is inspired by the creativity and visual language of all the artists she works with. Whether virtual or in person, she feels the creative spirit is unstoppable and is always excited to explore with young artists.
My name is Peter Omura and I run games and activities at Summer Adventure. This summer kids will learn how to turn their backyards into a training center so they can learn highly coveted skills that nobody really needs.
Tim Sutton has been with Summer Adventure for 10 years as the resident camp minstrel. He also plays music for families with his band Ratboy Jr. and teaches Media Arts at WDS. He has been an Auctioneer, Adjunct Professor, Roastmaster, Graduation MC, Stand up Comedian, Trip leader to Nepal/India, Wedding officiant, Talent show host, and most importantly a dad!
Neslihan Lord is passionate about sharing the gifts of yoga. She believes that mindful breathing and movement help children feel better in their own bodies. We will playfully breathe, stretch, move, relax and smile.
