William Bussert
Early Childhood and Lower School Physical Education Teacher

Will Bussert joined the WDS community in September 2021 as Early Childhood & Lower School Physical Education Teacher. He also will be serving in the role of Athletics Coordinator. 

Will has more than 10 years experience in teaching and modeling physical literacy and the value of being active. He is enthusiastic about building rapport and respect with students and is dedicated to creating a culturally responsive and safe learning environment.

Will comes to WDS from Oakwood Friends School where he played multiple roles during his many years there, including history teacher, dean of residential life, and assistant to the dean of students and residential life. He’s also worked as the boys division head at Camp Eagle Hill and as the boys division leader at Camp Walden and has coached soccer, basketball, tennis and lacrosse.

He holds a Master of Science in Adolescence Education and a Master of Arts in Global and International Studies, both from SUNY College at Oswego and holds an initial NYS certification in physical education (K-12). 

In the summer, Will works as Head of Outdoor Adventure at Camp Scatico in Elizaville. Will enjoys spending time with his wife Sara, who works in elementary art education in the Hyde Park School District, and his two daughters.
