Gabriela Aliaga

Gabriela joined WDS as the EC and LS Spanish teacher full time and in person in the fall of 2021, after teaching Spanish virtually for WDS in Spring 2020. Gabriela teaches kindergarten through third grade.
Originally from Peru, Gabriela is a journalist, actress, television and theater director and producer, and a highly creative educator. In these roles, Gabriela has:
- Founded a cultural association “ComuniKando senti2” to promote art and culture in her community and in communities living in extreme poverty in Peru.
- Created “LA SALA” Teatro en Casa, and brought theater to homes, opening alternative spaces to present independent and small-format works in the houses of the neighborhood. Her house was the first.
- Produced, directed and written two plays for children: “My Tender Frankenstein” inspired by the masterful play “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley adapted for children and whose main message was respect and the acceptance of everything that was different for us; and “Un Bicho que da Bechos”, an ecological work which tells us about the importance of caring for the environment and respect for all the beings who inhabit our planet. She also has produced plays for adults.
Caring for the environment is a recurring theme for Gabriela, which is why she has taught various recycling workshops to inspire children to love nature.
