Elizabeth Koelmel

Elizabeth Koelmel returned to WDS in the role of MS/US Division Director in July 2022. In this role, Elizabeth also teaches health and wellness classes in the Middle and Upper School.
During her 20 years of prior service at WDS, Elizabeth worked in a variety of administrative and teaching positions, including Lower School Division Head, college counselor, social worker and teacher. Elizabeth’s accomplishments during her time at WDS include managing, evaluating, and training new and veteran faculty members; creating an evaluation process for all faculty; collaborating with the Academic Leadership Team to manage curriculum, instruction and issues facing students, faculty and parents; advising adolescent students and teachers on the transition into Middle and High School; creating and teaching health education curriculum to 5th through 12th grades; working as a lead teacher in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades; and teaching select classes in the Middle and Upper School.
Since leaving WDS, Elizabeth has been working at Maverick Psychotherapy Group where she provided psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, children, couples, and families with a specialization in work with adolescents, trauma and somatic practices. However, she has never been far from campus life given her deep roots at the school and that her three children attend WDS. While at Maverick, Elizabeth provided reduced cost psychotherapy services to WDS students.
Elizabeth holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from SUNY New Paltz, a Master of Social Work from the University of New England and a BS in Psychology from Lewis and Clark College.
