Middle and Upper School History and Social Studies Teacher

Chad joined as our Middle School History and Social Studies Teacher for the 2022-23 school year. 

Most recently, Chad was an Apprentice Teacher at Stissing Mountain High School in Pine Plains (NY) where he taught Global History and at Oakwood Friends Day School in Poughkeepsie where he taught about the rise of early Islamic empires. Previous to those positions, he held various positions in the Ithaca (NY) City School; taught undergraduate students at Cornell University; was a community organizer for New Bedford (MA) Coalition to Save Our Schools; and in Salt Lake City (UT) was a paraprofessional educator in an underserved area and an autism aide. Chad holds a New York State certificate for the teaching of social studies for Grades 7-12. 

Chad received a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in history and a bachelor’s degree with a major in political studies from Bard College; and a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.  For his Bard Masters research project, he wrote an analysis of cotton’s place in global history.

When he is not working, Chad enjoys reading, politics and current events, exercising, academic research and writing,  music, and civic engagement.
