Anna Westbrook

Anna Westbrook
Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Anna was born and raised in Australia and brings more than a decade experience working as a teacher and school leader to WDS. In her most recent position, Anna worked at Blue Mountain Union School in Vermont as an English, Social Studies, and Senior Seminar Teacher where she taught American Literature, Shakespearean Literature, Applied English and Social Studies to an academically diverse group of students. At Uncommon Collegiate Charter High School in New York City she served as a department chair, instructional coach, and teacher in the English department. In her work there, she coached a team of eight across four curriculums using socio-emotional learning practices, data, and teacher observations. She also regularly led professional development for the English Department and for a network of ten other high schools. In addition to teaching 9th Grade English and AP Literature, Anna ran the Student Government Association, Theater Club, and co-ran professional development in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the whole school staff. Anna’s additional teaching experience includes working as a 6th Grade Reading Teacher at Magan David Yeshivah in New York City and a 7th to 11th Grade English Teacher and debating coordinator at Kesser Torah College in Sydney, Australia.

Anna holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (English) from RELAY Graduate School of Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching (English & Drama) from the University of UNSW, Australia, and a BA in English from the University of Sydney, Australia. Additionally, she was a Hollyhock Teaching Fellow at Stanford University. Anna is certified to teach English in New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
