Senior Spotlight: Finn Doering

1. How long have you been at WDS?
I’ve been at WDS since sixth grade- with Josh Platt and his trout journey.
2. What did you learn at WDS that you feel prepared you for this next step?
I learned how to always keep an artistic eye in everything I do and to always stay true to my own perspective and style.
3. Why did you choose your particular school/gap year/job?
I choose to attend Parsons school of Design in the Fall of 2020. Originally I wanted to take a gap year but there is no point anymore because the covoid-19 epidemic is cancelling all travel. I choose to major in Industrial design because my whole life I’ve been deeply intrigued by all aspects of design and I want to be a self made entrepreneur from my product conceptions.
4. Please share a particularly fond memory of your time at WDS.
Personally I cannot pick a certain memory, rather I am just grateful for all the amazing laughs I have been able to have with my peers at The Woodstock Day School. This school really enables true creativity and protects people- allowing them to be themselves like no other school. This nurtures a safe environment. You won’t have laughs like you do at the WDS, anywhere else.
5. Any advice for the Class of 2021?
My advice is to just know that the workload will get done because it has to, and also try to relax.
