Robin’s Fund

Rooted in the mission of Woodstock Day School, Robin’s Fund was created to continue the diversity, equity, and inclusion work of Robin Shepley-Shornstein, the school’s cherished Librarian and educator for over 24 years.

“Books are sometimes windows, offering views of worlds that may be real or imagined, familiar or strange. These windows are also sliding glass doors, and readers have only to walk through in imagination to become part of whatever world has been created or recreated by the author. When lighting conditions are just right, however, a window can also be a mirror. Literature transforms human experience and reflects it back to us, and in that reflection we can see our own lives and experiences as part of a larger human experience…”

Dedicated to implementing and supporting programs and initiatives that encourage children to embrace difference, to identify and take steps to eliminate bias, and to learn how to cultivate a future of acceptance and belonging.
Through your contributions to Robin’s Fund, we aim to invest in important work such as:
- Ensuring there continues to be a diverse selection of books representing a variety of experiences and perspectives in our wonderful library.
- Continued anti-bias and anti-racist trainings and workshops for faculty, staff, students, and parents with the goal of supporting our community to be more inclusive and welcoming.
- Conducting a diversity audit of the school’s curriculum.
