Physical Education
From nursery school through upper school, every student has physical education classes twice a week.
The goals of our PE program are to build self-efficacy, physical awareness, cooperation and sportsmanship, good health and wellness.
Students engage in activities for physical skill building (running, catching, throwing), cooperation and problem-solving (cooperative games and outdoor education) and also for particular sports (yoga, basketball, archery, ultimate frisbee, and others.) Everyone participates, gets out there, pinneys on, playing soccer or frisbee, helping each other up, and cheering each other on.
Our physical education and athletic program provides opportunities for students to discover what they are passionate about as athletes and to build individual athletic facility in addition to building skills like cooperation, perseverance and reflection. At the upper school level and in our afterschool sports program, students get the chance to connect with other students from various grade levels. Taking part in the athletic programs forges a sense of responsibility and leadership and creates a bond among students and teachers. As per the mission, students feel empowered and build confidence in taking on challenges as individuals as well as being respectful team players.
