Lower School Experience
At WDS, we intentionally individualize learning so it becomes fluid and self-paced. By actively cultivating an inclusive learning environment, we see in our classrooms a blossoming community where our students feel valued; intrinsic motivation is nurtured, and learning happens through collaborative problem solving.
We know that every child has a range of abilities and gifts.
It is not enough to insure that our students become strong writers, know how to reason or understand complex math problems. They also need to build social and emotional literacy to forge strong friendships, understand how to be part of a community and have the ability to fully express themselves in any setting.

Relationships are key. We ensure older kids interact with younger kids on a regular basis. In Lower School, our students have both a younger and older buddy to engage with during different weekly group activities.
