Explorations at WDS are Child + Parent/Caregiver Participation Classes – inviting young children and their caregivers into playful exploration, hands-on materials, creativity, and connection.
In a small-group setting, children ages 18 months to 3 years will explore varied materials and sensory experiences, move, create, play alongside one another, and begin building relationships with peers and teachers. Parents and caregivers are active participants in the experience – joining children on the floor, exploring materials alongside them, and following their lead as they investigate the world around them.
Led by WDS Art and Materials Specialist Jenny Ogg, each gathering reflects the play-based approach at the heart of Early Childhood at WDS. Sessions will include process art, sensory exploration, music and movement, stories, outdoor time, and simple shared routines. Children will have space to experiment freely, make choices, get messy, and discover their own ways of engaging with materials and one another.
For parents and caregivers, the program offers a chance to experience this stage of learning alongside their child, connect with WDS educators and other local families, and see firsthand how curiosity, agency, creativity, and relationships develop through play and exploration.
The program is designed both as a meaningful shared experience for children and caregivers and as an inviting first connection to the Woodstock Day School community.
