About
Staying true to our roots.
Our founder’s vision, incorporating the outdoors and play as central to learning and happiness, was progressive and deeply rooted in the humanist tradition. Over the last 47 years, we have remained committed to these ideals while deepening our academic reach to include stewardship and experience in the arts, expanding the program we offer to include nursery school through 12th grade.

Our Campus is connected to the natural world.
Situated in a rural, natural setting, WDS is surrounded by beautiful outdoor spaces, views of Overlook Mountain, 40 acres of nature trails, wide open fields, and our very own pond. The eleven distinct buildings and light-filled, cozy classrooms, come together to create a campus that is truly one of a kind.
